Local rules, made simple
Long Island does electrical differently
There's no state electrician license, and towns don't send their own inspectors. Here's what that means for you.
Who licenses electricians where you live
Suffolk County licenses master electricians countywide. In Nassau it's your town, city or village.

An approved agency inspects the work, and PSEG Long Island needs its certificate to reconnect power.

How much does an electrician cost on Long Island?
Service calls typically run $75–$250 and hourly rates $75–$150, with Long Island in the upper half. Bigger jobs are usually flat-priced: a 100A-to-200A service upgrade runs about $3,200–$5,800 turnkey, and a Level 2 EV charger about $1,000–$2,500 when the panel has room.
How do I check if an electrician is licensed on Long Island?
New York has no statewide electrician license. In Suffolk, look for a Suffolk County Master Electrician license. In Nassau, licensing is by town (Hempstead, North Hempstead, Oyster Bay), the City of Long Beach and many villages. A Nassau County Home Improvement license excludes electricians, so it isn't proof.
Do you do the electrical work yourselves?
No. We're a referral service. We connect you with an independent electrician licensed for your town or county, who quotes and does the work. There's no fee to you for the referral.
